Softly pushed through tangled thorns
That choked and tore buds pink and delicate.
Promises lost,
Flickering hope,
Searching for light, for peace, for air.
A flower blossomed in the darkness.
What manner of love to place her there?
First among the least-to-care.
A heavenly shaft pierced through the darkness
Jealous light searched murk and mound
That covered and masked blooms weak and ignorant.
Struggling faith,
Lingering guilt,
Compromised flesh and sin abound.
A heavenly shaft pierced through the darkness.
What genuine love to seek her there!
Least among the graced to share.
A blossom opened in the darkness
Petals spread and colors born
Fading despair in crease and cavity
Whispering close,
Offering prayer,
Holding weak hands when death is near.
A blossom opened in the darkness.
What desperate love would keep her there?
Redeemed, forgiven, with hope to spare.
A flower blossomed in the darkness.
