Act and speak and think as I see best,
No need to bow the knee, I can stand alone.
“Carry on my child. But in your chosen path there is no rest
Travel down your road, it will lead you far away,
In the choosing of your heart, you load yourself with grime.
Fool! You cannot ever cleanse yourself, today or any day.”
Is my way so wrong? The efforts of my hands so great a crime?
Can I do nothing? Not act or speak or think, to purge my sin?
“All that is needed, I have done, to make you mine.
Trust in me and in the blood that I have shed. And then begin
In me alone to live and work and shine.
Outside my life, my love, my leading, all is dead.
Now come my child, be cleansed, renewed, and led.”
