“You may now fill out the data sheet’’.
The rustling of the paper testified to the candidates’ obedience. But a consistent knocking was coming from Vilma’s desk and all attention was now drawn to her. The invigilator hastened to her desk to inquire as to what was the cause. Without asking she saw that Vilma was trying to fill out the data sheet with visible trembling hands that were hitting against the desk.
The invigilator was aghast at this strange incident and went closer to her desk.
“Just stop,” instructed the invigilator.
She walked away and beaconed her to come to the door.
Quietly, she whispered.
“Are you feeling sick, would you like a cup of tea? She asked.
“No, Miss”
“Why are you trembling, are you nervous?”
“I do not know why.”
“I am going to send you to the secretary’s office, and allow you time to settle, then you can return”.
Vilma nodded and went to the office.
Ten minutes later she returned. She took up the data sheet and took up the pencil but both hands were now shaking uncontrollably. Without a word, she stood up and left for the secretary’s office.
Vilma was stupefied. She went to the restroom and stood, then cried out to the Lord.
“Lord, God, what is happening to me? Is this a panic attack?
Lord, you see how I have studied for this examination.
You know my struggles for me to reach this far and I am facing this problem.
Lord help me, you are my father. Come through and help, in Jesus' name. Amen.
Leaving the bathroom, she bumped into Anabel, a candidate, and a pregnant mother.
“What are you doing outside?” Asked Vilma.
“Kingston Campus has sent the wrong examination papers, and you know, in my condition, I have to use the restroom”, then she smiled.
By the time both women left that vicinity all the candidates were outside. The tense atmosphere was thick, and emotions were running wild. Most candidates were displeased as they thought that this mishap was carelessness.
Anabel was distraught as she was not prepared for the subject they were sending.
“I did not study for that examination” Anabel blurted.
Vilma tried to calm her and reminded her that God would bring back to her memory what she was taught.
“Do you remember profit and loss, fine. When you go to the examination, look over the papers, choose the ones you can do, and do it well”.
Vilma assured her that she would be successful and revise with her the different areas of the syllabus.
“Vilma, what an examination, I could do all the questions.” Then she jumped up.
“Be careful,” said Vilma.
I am happy, thanks for your help. Vilma beamed and clapped her hands.
“And you were able to do the examination too, Vilma.”
“Oh yes! What a God we serve, look at it this way we both helped each other. Once we call on the Lord in sincerity and truth He will answer.”
Both women left uplifted.
