It was written by Godly men moved by the Holy Ghost as stated in 2 Peter 1:21. The authors were comprised of scholars, medical doctors, prophets, apostles, and businessmen among others.
This book when read can bring about truth against false hope people find in other books. This is seen in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right. It is God’s way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do.”
In this way, it teaches about unconditional love. This benefit has set this book apart from others. It does not have mythology but real-life experiences which can be had today. For example, we read in John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son that everyone who believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world but to save it.”
Once this love is accepted, transformation usually takes place. Here is an example, 2 Corinthians 5:17 “What this means is that those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore. For the old life is gone and the new life has begun!”
This is seen when we read in Ephesians 4: 25 -29 “So put away all falsehood and tell your neighbor the truth because we belong to each other. And don’t sin by letting anger gain control over you. And don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gain gives a mighty foothold to the devil. If you are a thief, stop stealing. Begin using your hands for honest work, and then give generously to others. Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.”
These are practical steps given that are applicable to all who are willing to accept the teachings of the word of God. Stories of faith are yet another example of how effective this book is once we read it. We see that the mother of Moses saw that he was an unusual child and by faith, she hatched a plan that only Godly wisdom could provide.” Exodus 2:3-10
“But when she could no longer hide him, she got a little basket made of papyrus reeds and waterproofed it with tar and pitch. She put the baby in the basket and laid it among the reeds along the edge of the Nile River. The baby’s sister then stood at a distance, watching to see what would happen to him. Soon after this, one of Pharaoh’s daughters came down to bathe in the river, and her servant girls walked along the riverbank. When the princess saw the little basket among the reeds, she told one of the servant girls to get it for her. As soon as she opened it, she found the baby boy. His helpless cries touched her heart.”
Miriam his sister came out from hiding and asked the princess if she could call one of the Hebrew women to nurse the child for her. The princess was happy to know such help could be given so she rushed to her mother with the great news. The mother came and accepted the offer to be paid for the help given.
Unknown to both the mother and the princess it was God’s plan for Moses to be brought up in the palace to do God’s work in the later years.
It is no wonder that this book remains a best-seller and has been translated into over 7,000 languages. Readers who have been changed by the power of God through this book have even given their lives for their faith in Lord Jesus Christ.
Today read this book to be wise!
