Never before had I experienced this as my heart began to unfold.
His tiny hand grasped my finger his cotton head brushed my lips.
I couldn’t stop breathing him in, kiss after kiss after kiss.
I’d never been needed this way before. His life was mine to give.
No picture, story, song or poem could sing what my heart did.
His soft and snuggled body lay covered on my breast.
I’d let him lay for hours just to watch him rest.
I could feel his heart tap gently very close to mine.
The miracle of our connection was a very special kind.
His body has grown larger and I can’t hold him any more,
But I still give him kisses when he walks in or out the door.
As he grows I give him love and love he gives me back.
My first born child, a gift from God and that is just a fact.

What a sweet way to tell of a mother's first maternal love. Nicely chosen words and beautiful imagery.
