Topic: DEFENSE (06/02/22)
Walking the narrow Way is not always easy. There are opportunities at every step to turn to either side for something that glitters or promises happiness or claims to be the answer to my problems. Although the Way is very narrow, it leads to life. The seemingly delightful offers on the sides pull at me daily, but I know better: they are there to distract me and allure me to someplace that ultimately will cause me to lose the narrow Way. I will not succumb to their sirens. Indeed, I cannot even look in their directions. Instead, I look straight ahead at the goal before me. I am running the race to win the prize of eternal life that Jesus purchased for me. He forgave all of my sins (going my own way) and healed all my diseases.

This earthly life goes on, and I ride along with it. I have given my body, soul, and spirit to Jesus, my Lord. I am ready at any time to provide you with the reason for the hope within me. My way was full of woes and depression, so I gave it up for His way instead. I am upright and free because He has created a clean heart within me.

The world does not like me, or rather, it hates me. I do not go with its flow. Instead, I love the law of the Lord, and I yearn for His divine presence. I do not need to defend myself because the Word of God is my defense. He keeps me from the enemy's attacks and protects me from evil.

"My defense is of God, Who saves the upright in heart." (Psalms 7:10 NKJV)

When conflict arises because of the Way, I do not need to open my mouth, but I need only to stand still and let His Word work. He alone is my defense.
