The Dream
I had two bottles of whiskey that I had taken from my friend’s stash. Why whiskey? It was odd because I do not drink. I was taking them somewhere, but their intended destination was never clear. I was on my way to a conference, so I had to hide them. I felt sneaky and guilty that I had them. I had to find a place where no one would look.
Meanwhile, stuffing them in my coat made me look bizarre, especially when I tried to take an exercise class. I searched for a place to conceal them during the conference classes. There was a miniature stage in the children’s classroom, so I put them behind the curtains, still fearing that someone would see them there.
These two bottles were on my mind for all the conference classes. I was afraid that somebody would find them and think I would drink the whiskey. I went to retrieve them, but the room was full of people. I waited for a couple of hours and then looked again into that room, and it was empty. Quickly, I stuffed the bottles into my briefcase and covered them with my papers and books from the day.
I got to my car, drove to my friend’s house, returned them to her cabinet, and was relieved.
The Interpretation
The dream was an acting out of something inside of me. I took the two bottles of whiskey from my friend. I do not believe what they represented was physical, but rather a belief she held that I did not feel was correct. I thought I should correct her. I hid my feelings as I attended the activities of the day. Upon finishing my duties, I gave my full attention to her beliefs again. I shared them with no one, and finally, I took the two bottles of whiskey back to her and left them there.
I looked at what I thought was not right in her and decided to leave it alone, knowing that the Holy Spirit would teach her. This was not my issue to correct. I knew she loved the Lord, and He would convict her if her belief was in error.
The Message
The Holy Spirit stopped me from acting in error by confronting her because He would do it Himself. It was not my place in this situation. I realize that without this dream, I might have wrecked our friendship or at least weakened it because that belief that I thought was wrong was between her and the Lord. I thank God that He stopped me from acting from my perceptions, not His!
