Whom from so many I chose,
For a Queen,
And for better or for worse,
Till death does us apart.
What makes you so angry
For my inviting you
For my and guests’ pleasure?
A King is a king,
No matter what modernity tells you!
I am with my subjects,
Drinking and discussing issues,
Of nation building and development;
Not just boozing wine,
As you seem to think.
You incredible Queen,
Who doubts my governance skills,
Why shouldn’t I show my friends
And admirers,
What a gorgeous Queen I married?
How awesome that you are my Queen?
And the King is pleased with you!
My dear Queen,
Adam, your very ancestor,
Experienced Eve’s beauty at first sight.
In the same way, you please me,
So was Adam pleased by Eve.
Whom am I, then,
To disobey laws of nature?
My dear Queen,
Come and meet our kingdom’s guests.
Whom am I, then,
Before this kingdom,
Like Eden that tempted Eve,
To avoid great temptation that defies all authority:
Come that I, your king, may savour you!
Come so that my throne may be blessed!
Come so that my guests may be happy!
Come and delay no longer!
And what was the meaning our nuptial vows?
Love and obedience!
Power and prosperity!
For better for worse…?
So simply come, as you are.
Confession of a Queen
Dear King,
Whom from this kingdom I chose,
For a husband,
And for better or for worse,
Till death do us apart.
At this hour, I cordially invite you,
To leave your guests for mine?
You incredible King Xerxes,
Who, like a crazy man,
Lives recklessly in a Palace,
Partying with fellow men of your kingdom,
Forgetting that I am your Queen,
And for me, thy so called wife,
Seated in the next room,
You can hardly respect me
To be with fellow womenfolk!
You powerful husband,
Who has oppressed me day and night!
Will no one help me to lull down
That bloated ego of yours?
I would rather have a blind king
Than dare you gaze at those women
Before I bring ’em over to your vultures.
My lustful King,
When will you ever reform?
Like a lion which lives on meat,
So do you on “wine and women,”
And like a tiger,
You spare no game that comes into your park!
From one game park to another,
You chase you prey, like you do power
And when back into the Palace,
Instead of going to the Queen
You head for your Halem!
You incredible King,
For whom a permanent cure
Must be found –
For better or for worse!
Hearken to thy torments,
Piercing my entire constitution.
Look at you, incredible King
Inviting me to be paraded before fellow offenders
While my rights are perpetually abused.
Oh mother – will no one on this earth,
Tell me what to do to my husband
Whom I love so dearly
But also hate so much
Because of his bloated ego!
Should I succumb this ominous parade
Or perilously defy his order
And teach him unforgettable lesson
Or, simply, ready myself for dire consequences
Of my premeditated disobedience?
