I forbid you circling too close the flames of fire,
Too close, you spread your wings like a moth, allured
Restraint will keep you from singeing in torment, good is my desire.


Sometimes you heed my warnings, so dear,
Curtail anguish for pleasures that mattered.

Lured and tempted, your heart torn in quagmire,
Down a dark valley around in irresistible urge.
Restraint will keep you from singeing in torment, good is my desire.


As iron sharpens, you need me with you to aspire,
“You shall be holy: for I am holy God, your LORD.”
I forbid you circling too close the flames of fire.


In this world, you and I must continue through a Pilgrim’s mire.
We bond with my Fount of Life, Creator, my Beloved.
Restraint will keep you from singeing in torment, good is my desire.


See the moon rising over, as clouds gather?
Listen, you and I, unafraid,at peace in the night, as stars blanket.

Beautiful poetic language expressing the dangers of toying with temptation. I liked the repetition of “ I forbid you circling too close the flames of fire,
Restraint will keep you from singeing in torment, good is my desire.” Good job.
