Be sure that He will, but still, He waits. What is He waiting for? Why is it taking so long for Jesus to return and fix the mess we created all by ourselves? It is simply because He loves us: all of us. He wants everyone to come to Him before He does away with evil and establishes His Kingdom on earth. So, He waits. He tells us in His Word:
“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9 NKJV)
Realizing why He waits helps us understand why we need to be patient and longsuffering like He is. In the meantime, who do we know that does not yet belong to Jesus? It’s time to make sure they know that He is waiting for them.
“Our soul waits for the LORD; He is our help and our shield.” (Psalm 33:20 NKJV)
Yes, His followers wait for Him, hungering and thirsting for righteousness. We are told to be patient as we wait for Him as a farmer waits for the proper time to plant, sow and reap.
“Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain.” (James 5:7 NKJV)
Just as He waits, we must also wait patiently. It will all work out perfectly in His timing.
