A promise is only as good as the person who makes it. When we feel we need some additional assurance of having something in life, we will ask for a promise. When you go through life, time has a way of exposing to you that promises can and will be broken. Many times in life we seek someone we hope will keep their vows better than the last person, whether it is someone who said “I do”, or “I.O.U.”

When we rely on people, we can only hope they will do as they say. We try to build faith in them by their history of fulfilling a promise, the sincerity in their voice or what others have said about them.

When looking at the Word of God, we try to establish if there is truth in what is being said and how much faith we can have in it. The bible is history written in advance. There is no one else but God, who can accurately show the future (Isaiah 41:21-23). About 30% of the bible is prophetic and 81% of promises have been fulfilled (2 Cor 1:20). The long list includes insiders like the life of Jesus (Isaiah 9:6) and John the Baptist (Isaiah 40:3); and outsiders like Alexander the Great (Daniel 8:5-8) and Antiochus IV Epiphanes; the original spoiler of Israel’s temple (Dan 9:27, 11:31), foreshadowing the Anti-Christ that will do the same one day (Dan 9:27, 12:11).

Even His timing is impeccable. Since the Old Testament was a shadow of things to come (Col 1:6), four out of the seven festivals or convocations (rehearsals) had major prophecies (death of Christ, burial, resurrection, and outpouring of the Holy Spirit) that were fulfilled on the exact holydays (Passover, Unleavened bread, First fruits & Pentecost).

After a gap almost 2000 years later, the promise of Israel becoming a nation again was fulfilled, an effort helped by the U.S. when Truman who favored Israel took over after Roosevelt; who did not. Even in the last 10 years we are seeing pieces coming together like foxes walking in the Temple Mount (Lam 5:18), 173 migratory birds going to Israel (Eze 39:4, Rev 19:17), Tilapia fish swimming in the Dead Sea that was destroyed by the sin of Sodom & Gomorrah (Eze 47:8-10). Even now, the Temple Institute has trained Jewish priests, built a gold Menora and are breeding red cows (Num 19:2) ready to be sacrificed in the rebuilt temple.

The countries that will come and attack Israel, due to the U.S. or other allies that can’t or won’t help (Eze 38:13), are making plans that may start the beginning of the seven year tribulation period, when God’s wrath comes on the children of disobedience.
With differing viewpoints of when the rapture will happen, I need additional assurance, a promise that I will not have to go through that. A sincere sign from a loving Father: with a history of how good He treats His favorites.

In Luke 17:26-30; Jesus gave examples of how He got His people (Lot and Noah) out before the destruction and His wrath was expressed.

I see the promise here: “But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.” 1 Thessalonians 5:8-10 (NKJ)

With the crazy things happening in the world these days, I need assurance that it won’t be long before these last days are over. Because one day is like 1,000 years to the Lord (Psalm 90:4, 2 Pet 3:8) and we are getting closer to our Sabbath millennial rest: mans’ first 6,000 years are almost up.

After 4,000 years from the fall of Adam came the death of Christ (AD 30). Another 2,000 years would be 2030 (Jewish year 5781). Taking away the 7 yr. tribulation would be 2023.
This week another Jewish festival (Sep 6-8 Jewish New year/Rosh Hashana/Festival of trumpets) brings us closer, reminding me that the last festivals of Leviticus 23 (Trumpets/atonement/Tabernacles) can have major promises fulfilled (Rapture/2nd Coming/New Heaven and Earth). Waiting for the last trump!

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever” Psalm 23:6 (NKJ)
