Topic: SPARKLE (08/19/21)
Sitting outside on the deck in the early evening, Sarah and Joe felt happy and at peace. They had everything they had ever dreamed of and for that they thanked God regularly.

But wait! Their reverie was interrupted when they both noticed something shimmering like yellow gold on the far side of their well-kept lawn. Joe cringed but Sarah jumped up and ran to see what it could be. As she got closer to it, a small round spot of leftover sunshine in the grass, she started laughing at herself and made her way back to the deck, and Joe.

“I knew there would not be anything out there, but, no! You always have to check out anything that shimmers and sparkles.” Joe seemed bored.

“I know, but actually there was something there, though it is not what I expected it to be. One day I will find buried treasure somewhere in our yard or in our house. I have had reoccurring dreams of finding bunches of coins buried in the dirt somewhere on our property. As I go to pick them up, I start to dig, and the coins won’t stop coming!”

More from Joe who clearly was not interested in Sarah’s exploits but is laughing at her by now, “Coins? Like a chest full of jewels buried in our yard by some pirate eons ago?”

Sarah’s heart took in his sarcasm, and she felt deflated for a moment. She decided to drop the subject with Joe for now. She had been enthralled with all things that sparkled since childhood. It was l an inborn passion. She decided not to let Joe’s crummy attitude bother her.

With a passion from God, Sarah continued to search everything that shimmered and shone. What did it mean? Why did she have to do this? She knew that one day this passion would produce a substantial harvest, just as anything from God would do. She had to stand up against opposition, even from Joe in order to be obedient and continue with this directive from God.

Anything from God will continue and grow in us. Temporary soulish thoughts and ideas will not last but those from God will overcome all obstacles to establish and confirm His plan. Though we may not understand what our piece of the puzzle has to do with it, or know why or what He is doing, we only have to hear Him and obey Him. What an amazing God we serve!

Great story. Resonates with me.
I was wondering if you had all the tenses right and was hoping soeone with greater skill than I would have commented-perhaps that means I was simply tripping over Joe :).
I am braving up to red ink myself as it really is the way to learn isn't it?
