Topic: ENOUGH (01/07/21)
I sit on the bed in my hotel room in Portland, Oregon, once again playing the mind game with my nemesis. There is no reasoning with him! Ruthless and relentless. Calculating and conniving. He will cut my throat if given half a chance.

We have known each other for many years. I nicknamed him Stooge which infuriates him. He calls me Weakling, consistent to his narcissistic nature.

Stooge has followed me on this business trip. Knowing that I have flight anxiety. Knowing that I hate being away from home. He knows my every weakness and his timing is always perfect. He often attacks me after a long, stressful day when my defenses are down. He knows that tonight I am weary and will not have the energy to fight him off.

I will never voice it aloud, but my own voice echoes in my head. I am beginning to believe his lies. I am weak. I am unworthy. I will never overcome my fears. I am not capable of making a difference for God in ministry. I might as well give up and succumb to his wishes. He has worn me down and I am at my breaking point.

I am seconds away from giving up the fight when I whisper a small prayer. Please give me strength.

Immediately, scripture fills my thoughts.

1 Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you with my victorious right hand.

2 But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.

Holding on to my faith and proclaiming God’s promises drives Stooge and his lies out of my head. I am temporarily free and fearless once more.

Fear the size of a giant. Faith the size of a mustard seed.

Writer’s note: We must be vigilant in fighting off the devil. He is forever watching and waiting for a weak moment to sneak in and plant seeds of doubt and fear. Today, more than ever I pray that we keep our eyes solely on God and arm ourselves with His strength. Showing God’s love to others (especially when they are un-loveable) shines His light to the world. We cannot possibly accomplish this in our own power.

Good article. I feel, however, that you don't tell what the nemesis is. If you were less vague, you could possibly relate to others who are struggling in the same way.

Also, "enough" is not strongly connected to this article.

I enjoyed your entry, but I didn’t see where you showed it was enough. I believe you insinuated it with the scriptures you quoted, but did not actually hit the mark.
Keep on writing and well done.
