Bible Verse

Reflection

I was enjoying a girls’ day out with some friends. After lunch, two of my friends wanted to visit the jeweler’s shop to have some old rings worked on.

I was fascinated by watching the jeweler at work. I could tell by the way he examined the rings that he loves what he does. He appreciates the craftsmanship and beauty of each item.

Though the rings looked worn down and scuffed up, he could immediately see their worth. Even before using a scanner, he looked at each ring with appreciative eyes and proclaimed their value. The scanner only confirmed what he already knew. His voice was filled with honor and care.

He showed my friends what the restoration process would look like. He would clean and polish each individual element, adjust the setting, bring out the natural brilliance, and restore each ring to the beautiful, unique piece it was created to be.

Watching the jeweler at work gave me a glimpse of how God restores us. We may feel worn down by life and scuffed up by circumstances. But God sees through all that.

As God looks at us lovingly, He knows our value and our worth. He sees who He created us to be. He desires to clean, reset and recalibrate us, so we will shine with His Spirit.

When we are willing to let Him work on us, He knows exactly how to restore us to our unique identity and beauty -- a beauty that reflects the God who created us.

Prayer

God, I am so grateful You have a restoration plan that is as unique as I am. I invite You to work in my heart and my life, so I can be transformed into my true identity in You. I want to live and shine as who You created me to be. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen

this is a sweet story. My suggestions for taking it from good to great is to replace all passive verbs with active. Don't tell the reader about the day. Put the reader into the day. Let them smell the lunch. Show the jeweler picking up each ring with a sigh of appreciation. Describe his gentle handling of the gems. use dialog with your friends to tie in the theme of our value before God. Show your appreciation of the truth by accepting something about yourself that you had disliked before. I hope that makes sense! Keep scribbling!
