They take their evening stroll each day, hand in hand
I bet it have always been that way.
Two people who are truly still in love
A match made from heaven up above.
They are such a cute couple, he and she
I do not even know them, but I wish she were me.
To have someone who has been with you since the beginning
Their love is unconditional, never ending.
They are old in age, but their love is still young
Just as it was when they first begun.
They take each step, slowly and with care
A love like this is exceedingly rare.
The streaks of silver and gray in their hair
Did I mention they make a cute little pair?
I wonder where they go on their evening walks
Probably sit on their favorite bench in the park, no need to talk.
A week went by and I have not seen my old friends
Hoping their walks have not come to an end.
And then one evening, from around the corner they came
Hand in hand and their pace still the same.
One day, a siren I heard, turning down where they live
Then fate came into the picture, I found it hard to forgive.
But I guess life has its reasons, one way or another
As I remember the day when fate took my mother.
It has been a few years since I watch them take their stroll
Life is funny and we think we are in control.
But I do not let life get me down for too long
I go on walks now as I listen to the birds singing their songs.
I smile to myself as I remember my mom and my old friends
I smile, even though everything in life must come to an end.

I just finished a stroll with my wife. I don't look forward to them ending. I trust that God will replace them with something better when the time comes.

It would have been easier to read this had you separated the stanzas.

Oh, so touching and so beautifully written.
Thank you. My eyes welled up during this read.

And yes, everything in life does end. But how thankful I am to know, that although ending here...beginning in a far better place for all eternity.

I'm sure this will touch many hearts.
