We have long since scattered from our original home church but the ties we have to those roots have not failed to withstand the many plights that come against all living things. At times, the winds of change seemed paralyzing. Deaths of family and friends, the ravages of disease in our circle, the global devastation touching us all makes the path we chose decades ago anything but steady and clear. But God…
But God has kept his promise that we are never left alone. The comfort of the Holy Spirit, the encouragement from fellow journeymen, and to anyone who knows me, the power of praise and worship music clears the weeds of worry and deadwood of defeat. We are all human and can give in to the feelings of discouragement and fear. Let’s face it, we are bombarded daily with hearing words that can bring us to the darkest of places. That is why the living word of God is not only our joy, our bread of life, our sword against the enemy but our offering to those who do not know the love of Jesus. Speaking the Word breaks down prisons and builds up high towers of praise.
As we get older, physical strength and ability changes and sometimes even the temptation to compare what we once could do can creep in and be our focus. As we make our way Home with bad knees and aching backs, this must be our purpose as we speak, write, sing His Word: “Those who entwine their hearts with Yahweh will experience divine strength. They will rise up on soaring wings and fly like eagles, run their race without growing weary, and walk through life without giving up”. Isaiah 40:31 TPT
