Andrew Sexton regarded his teenaged charge with amusement, though he rarely smiled. “Yes, and Ruth,” he indicated his wife with his hand, as if the red-headed teen forgot who he was talking about, “agrees with me.”
“But they have a reputation of disrespecting Christians. It’s a trap!” she shouted at Andrew and Ruth.
They made motions to hush her, as they were in the storage room where they worked. Faith looked at them with pleading in her eyes, as if to say, “Why me? Why can’t someone else do the interview?”
Soon Faith realized that she was not only to witness as a crime-fighter, but in general as a believer, and that none of the rest of the team was available.
Blue Flame threw up her hands in surrender. "I'll go."

The following Saturday night, the indigo clad heroine arrived the station where the interview was to take place and plodded into the studio, feeling like Daniel as he was tossed into the lions.
The hostess motioned her to a plush chair and asked, "May I take your cape?" as if it were her coat.
Faith replied, “No, thank you, I wouldn’t feel fully dressed without it.” This got an obligatory chuckle from the hostess, before she sat down across from Blue Flame.
Faith had researched the hostess, Atlanta Bear, online, and found out it was a stage name. Bear leaned in to her microphone and said, “Tonight we have in studio the Light Force member known as the Blue Flame. Thank you for coming here tonight.”
"Thank you for having me."
Bear smiled like a shark finding a school of minnows and asked her first question. “Blue Flame, I really want to know, are all of the Light Force members Christians, as I’ve heard?"
Faith, not wanting to speak to this woman any more than she had agreed to, simply nodded.
Bear followed up with a more loaded question. “And why is your group exclusively Christians? Can people of other faiths who have powers join?”
Blue Flame was not surprised, knowing the reputation of the interviewer. “We were chosen to get these powers BECAUSE of our strong faith. As I am sure you know, the only other people locally who have powers are our foes, Allah’s Fist, devout Muslims who believe that we Christians are responsible for the destruction of their faith in the future. Would you trust someone who spent years trashing your show to join your team?"
“Now, Miss Flame, can I call you Blue?”
Faith shook her head.
"Well, um, if they sincerely apologized, and promised to be a team player, perhaps..."
“Yes,” Faith replied, though she didn’t see why this woman didn’t see the obvious, “but what if they had tryed to kill you?”
Bear responded, “Of course not, I was just asking why you are so insular and exclusive. Are your friends Islamophobic?”
Blue Flame rolled her eyes. “No, we do not fear anyone, but we do have a standard to uphold. if someone comes to Christ, and has powers, they’re welcome to work with us.”
The journalist shot back, “So you admit that you only accept Christians, no other faiths allowed in your little crime-fighting club.”
Faith clenched her teeth. “I was under the impression that this was going to be an interview, not a personal attack on what my friends and I believe.”
Her communicator had been left on so the Sextons could listen to the interview and supply advice if Faith found herself in a tight spot. Andrew spoke into her earpiece. “John 14:6.”
Faith followed up on her previous comment. ”And Jesus said, ‘No one comes to the Father except by me’. We simply live that out in our membership policies.” She stood and turned away from Bear, her cape swirling as she flew out of the studio.
Bear spoke towards the empty chair. “I guess she was annoyed that I asked those tough questions, but she didn’t torch the studio on her way out like I expected her to. I guess she was annoyed, but not angry.”
The station cut to a commercial, as Bear looked confused.
