Sixty Six Voices of God

What an amazing the biblical narrative it is! From Genesis through Psalms and the Gospels to Revelation, all you hear is God’s voice speaking to mankind. But because of sin, mankind never hears. Those who hear may not understand unless the Holy Spirit gets involved. Rom 8:26, 9:1; ICor.2:10. Do not get me wrong. No pun intended. I was such a victim for fifty three years. I will explain.

For 53 years, the so called five senses and the science laboratory denied me experiencing God. The scientific God mentality confused me. I blindly reasoned that if God was, indeed, Omnipresent, and Omni-everything else, He must be visible, audible, touchable, smell-able, ‘taste-able’ and provable in the science laboratory or physically.

“Why can’t God bring His throne at the Centre of the universe for everyone to see and in a loud voice, call mankind to order?” so I reasoned. Many such sinful questions constantly bothered my skeptical mind. The more questions I asked without getting answers either from the ‘66’ authors or the clergy and other theologians, the more was my credulous mind darkened. Ephesians 4:18-24. I wavered between belief and unbelief as to whether God really existed or not and whether salvation was meaningful to my life or not. I searched for God until the Holy Spirit helped me to find Him on the 6th of July 1999 at 18:43hrs. Supernaturally, the 53 year veil was suddenly plucked off my mind, ears, eyes and heart and I began to know, hear, see and love Him until today.

The creation account narrated in Genesis is quite revealing.
“God saw all that he had made, and it was very good”. Gen. 1:31 [NIV].
And to that ‘very good’, He added another climax - Adam and Eve. The latter became the epitome and embodiment of creation to which Adam responded with joy and satisfaction.

Before salvation I never saw much wonder in God’s creation but after salvation, I see much wonder everywhere I turn. What I see clearly pales the lazy ‘big bang’ and ‘evolution theories’. The great Psalmist [139:1-24] says it all: God’s 6‘knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain…13For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well”.

When Adam and Eve disobeyed God and tasted the ‘fruit of the tree of knowing good and evil’, they fell from grace to disgrace. God’s regime over man became difficult. Not even Angels [e.g: one wrestled with Jacob!], Priesthood, Prophets and Kings made it any easier. The Old Testament which relied on the inefficient and ineffective animal blood-based sacrifices to reconcile man to God, tells the whole story.

Finally, when God exhausted all earthly and heavenly resources, and the situation still looked so desperate, He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to die, at Calvary, for human sins. Jesus’ precious blood, unlike the Old Testament animal blood-based sacrifices, was more than sufficient for all mankind and for all times. John 3:16; 3:3-7. Glory be to God.
