My son’s trust level has grown immensely. For him, because I have been consistent and always there for him, he has finally figured out that he can trust that mama will return. He misses me, for sure, but that doesn’t diminish the fact that he knows he will go home with me. This in return gives me a little more breathing room. I finally feel like I am coming up for air after having two children under three.
Sometimes I wish I had his level of trust in my Savior. Keoni makes it look so easy. He just knows. I know too but I often listen to the doubts that inevitably creep up. "Lord, I know you said this but if I do that then this will happen." "Lord, I can’t do that. It is just too hard." Or, "Are you really asking me to do this? Can I give this instead?"
When has God been unfaithful to me? Never. Can I trust him like my son does? I can but it is not easy. For children, it is a simple thing. Trust just comes naturally. He doesn’t have to think about it and neither should I. I always get myself into trouble when I fight it. When will I ever learn? Faith and trust in my Lord should be as easy as pie. Why do I complicate it?
