you flung in that rage,
then put them back here on the table.
Now take a deep breath,
and try your best,
together I think that we will be able.
Then looking down,
he gave me a frown,
and mumbled “why don’t you just let me quit.”
He gave me a pout
then laid them out
and whispered, “now you make them fit.”
“Son I’ve been through them all,
and I don’t recall,
the sense of these pieces at hand.
But, if you try,
I’ll stay by your side,
then show me so I’ll understand.”
I grabbed the first,
it was His birth,
I looked toward, my dad’s sullen face.
Each piece that I laid,
much clearer it made,
that frown, with a smile, was replaced.
“But a piece is amiss”,
he said with a hiss,
“I’ve fought this all of my life.”
Then I replied,
“Dad, it was for you that He died,
to help you through all of this strife.”
“Oh! Now I see clear,”
Dad said through his tears,
“That piece that I thought, was lost,
why was I so blind,
it was there all the time,
The peace of the puzzle..the cross!”
