I would sit with you,
And tell you all the things
I’m sorry I didn’t do.
But time cannot be undone,
And now it’s too late,
You have gone on to Heaven,
And it’ll just have to wait.
Oh, how I wish I hadn’t paused,
Allowing distractions; my enemy,
To keep me from what really mattered;
I see it now with clarity.
The time I wasted on frivolous things,
Could have been spent with you.
Instead, I chose my own agenda,
Now, I’ll just have to make do,
Knowing that it is all my fault.
You tried getting my attention,
But I put you off again and again,
Causing us nothing but tension.
Now, when I want to say I am sorry,
I glance inside your room.
A tear falls down my cheek,
It is but an empty tomb.
If we could go back in time,
I would sit with you,
And tell you all the things,
I’m sorry I didn’t do.
