He looked at the stoic screen of his source-of-intelligence; he reached out and ran his thumbnail on the middle row of the A - L keys. The sound reminded him of a railroad crossing, and the train’s wheels on the tracks, clickety clack, clickety clack, ad infinitum.
These sources-of-intelligence were his life. He repaired them, but somehow they’d managed to finesse power over him. Sometimes this frightened Jeb because he didn’t understand. Yet, at other times, he wanted to delve deeper into them.
For now, though, he needed rest. Tomorrow, that source-of-intelligence might have something special planned for him. He didn’t set his alarm; he knew impulses from the Central Processing Unit would wake him up.
It didn’t take long for the gentle breezes of slumber to soothe Jeb’s restlessness, and his erratic snoring didn’t disturb his rest.
But, within the depths of Jeb’s psyche, an internal consciousness disturbed his slumber. “Follow me.”
“Where?” Jeb’s unconsciousness responded.
Something brushed his arm and he heard “Grab my hand.”
He did, and the two immediately were in a galaxy of indescribable brightness, sitting on puffs of luminous vapor.
Surrounded in the peace of a deep blue they were alone, except for two other specimens of galactic vapor in the distance.
“Guess I should introduce myself; I’m Jeb. ‘Course I think you know that. Who are you and why did you bring me wherever we are?”
“I’m Michael Jr. I’m your guardian angel and taking you on a tour.”
“What if I don’t want to go?”
“I’ve got wings and know where I am; you’re welcome to jump off any time you want. But it’s a long ways down. How well do you bounce?”
“Well, ok, this time I’ll do it your way.”
“Thank you.”
As they sat in silence the other two other units of galactic vapor floated closer. Soon Jeb recognized his source-of-intelligence on one of the clouds, and on the other a book glimmered in vivid brilliance.
As the galactic vapor carrying his source-of-intelligence nudged against the luminous vapor he was on, Jeb jumped across and stood beside it. “Hey, Michael Jr., do you know what this is?”
“I’ll bet I’m about to find out. I planned to take it to the dump outside the kingdom.”
“What kingdom?”
“We’ll talk about that later. What do you have to show me?”
Jeb’s voice jumped an octave, and he used his strongest “in your face” tone. “This is my source-of-intelligence. Briefly, it’s full of information that I’ve stored and can access. It retrieves and processes what I want. Its hardware and software allows me to control what and where information goes.
“Their internal movement is governed by what’s called a “mouse.” I use the mouse to search its highway of information.
“My source-of-intelligence is a never ending fountain-of-knowledge. The internet it scours is worldwide. I can send emails, articles, or pictures. I can shop, sell, or swap products.
“That my dear Michael Jr. is a composite of my source-of-intelligence.”
“Striking an angelic pose Michael Jr. was ready. “Your earthly source-of-intelligence is interesting, but archaic. I assume it breaks down, wears out, or better ones come along and you have to replace it?
Jeb shot back. “Well, of course. I can’t think of anything on earth that doesn’t wear out or break down.”
“Wings spread wide Michael Jr. glowed. What about the Bible? For the Father’s earthly production the Bible is the source of information about Him. The Old Testament tells of the creation, the first humans on earth, the world wide flood, and the early saints and prophets. Also, Psalms and Proverbs each have their own section.
“The New Testament is about Jesus, the way to salvation through the New Covenant, the early history of the church, and letters how to govern churches, and the Christian walk. The last book is about end times.
“The Bible is personal. What’s more personal than salvation and eternal life with your creator? It’s a never ending source of information about God and your relationship in Him.
“Finally, the information between the covers of the Bible never wears out. Until eternity, the Bible is all God chooses to tell of Himself. That information will never change. It’s His only letter to the world.”
