the Lord Jesus Christ reigns.
A day will dawn, when he will
have made, all his enemies
his footstool:
rulers, authorities, powers of this dark
world, spiritual forces of evil
in the heavenly realms,
unseen from the tents of our earthly
bodies, none-the-less real, proven
by the Word of God.
Oh, that the Father would open our
eyes, so we could see the battles
being fought for our souls -
angels in swift flight, blocking
wayward paths, encamped
around us, drawn swords flashing,
one day, we will judge them.
Would we, if we could see
the invisible, turn off the road
into a field, like Balaam’s donkey;
would we fall face down, trembling,
and turn deathly pale?
Unaware, we go about our daily tasks,
not remembering, that we who shun
evil are prey.
All the while, the Lord is busy
making righteousness and praise
spring up before all nations.
The end will come, when he hands over
the kingdom to God the Father, after
destroying all dominion, authority,
power, and the last enemy, death.
