I am blessed; my blessings many too many to count. For a start by an accident of birth I live in Australia, also known as the lucky country. A land of plenty, an island country, isolated from the trouble spots of the world. As a retired missionary I have also lived in a third world country and have seen the results of poverty, lack of employment, health care and education.
I am blessed as I have been married to a wonderful man for 41 years. I came from a dysfunctional Christian family and could have made a terrible mistake in marriage. I praise God that he connected me to my husband at a church camp. There are many women that never find a good man to marry or are married to an abusive or controlling husband.
I am blessed with three wonderful children who have given me 13 grandchildren to date. My children are all walking with God. I have two babies who preceded me to Heaven, I look forward to meeting them one day.
I am blessed even though I am now on a pension, I have more than enough to meet my daily needs. Many people in the world do not have enough to cover even their basic needs.
I am blessed because I have a comfortable roof over my head. Many in the world are homeless.
I am blessed because I worship at a great church that teaches good theology and enjoys a loving family atmosphere.
I am blessed as I live a very scenic area and I can enjoy the beauty of God’s creation on my daily walks.
Last but not least, I am blessed because Jesus loves me, he has saved me and given me eternal life.
As I count my blessings I am reminded of my responsibility.
I am responsible to give so those in third world countries can achieve a better life.
I am responsible to pray for my grandchildren that they will have a strong relationship with God.
I am responsible to befriend those who have lost their husbands as they need companionship.
I am responsible to be a friend to those who don’t have the loving relationship that I have with my children.
I am responsible to share what little finance I have with those who have nothing, being prepared to squeeze my finances so those that others do not have to feel the pinch.
I am responsible to share my faith with those who do not know Jesus as their Savior.
I AM BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING!
