But most amazing of all to me is the enormous amount of information we can research and have access to via the web.
I remember the days when I would pick up the phone (rotary by the way) and have to wait to make my call because someone else was already talking on our party line. It was usually gossip too of course and I’d listen in on the conversation. Hey I was just a kid…..what can I say…. I learned a lot that way!
I remember when games were played on a board or out in the front yard; and you had to mail a letter to correspond with family and friends; and even had to write a check and mail your bills via the United States Post Office.
I remember having to go to the public library to do any type of research unless you were fortunate enough that your parents could afford to buy the set of encyclopedias that were being pedaled and sold from door to door.
Aww…..the good old days LOL. But I will have to say like everything else….googling has its good points and its bad points.
I sat down at my computer and googled the word…..Jesus……using several different search engines. Google Chrome gave me 176,000,000 results; Yahoo – 175,000,000; Ask – 75,600,000; and everything from images, news about, and Jesus on Wikipedia could be researched. There was even a video titled: Dog Butt Looks like Jesus Christ in a robe!
As I looked over the variety of choices I had to choose from to research and learn about Jesus, I noticed there were very few key words that had the word bible in them. And I thought, “No wonder so many people are confused about who Jesus really is!”
Then I remembered telling my kids over and over again, as they grew up, to never just take someone else’s word for anything, especially when it came to religion and spirituality. I’d say, “Don’t believe a certain way just because someone else does, even if the words come from a preacher. You pray, you read God’s word, and ask HIM to show you the truth, listen to HIM, and then make your own decision. And once you are convicted in your own heart, stick to it, and don’t let anyone talk you out of it.”
I also remember trying to occasionally read God’s word. But it didn’t make sense to me and the words might as well have been written in a foreign language. But once, I truly sought God with all my heart, the light came on in the darkness and the word came to life. And my life hasn’t been the same since.
Our spirituality is and should be a very personal, unique, relationship with, by, and through Jesus Christ because HE is the only way, the truth, and the life.
And God’s word tells us in John 1: 1 through verse 5 that: “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” (NLT)
My spiritual journey hasn’t been an easy one and I’m still not where I should be or where I would like to be but by the grace of God, I’m a whole lot further along than I use to be.
And now when I have questions, I remember to turn to the one that has all the answers…..which is Jesus.
So no matter what method we choose to seek HIM…..prayer….reading HIS word….listening to a sermon….praise and worship…..or googling……HE is the answer to all the questions we may have past, present, and future!

Okay, off my soapbox now! LOL. I'm just an old fashioned gal what can I say?
I loved your entry, it will make many stop and ponder the world of yesteryear, today, and glimpse visions of the future.
Nicely done!
God bless~
I hit the button before I read it through!! Sorry...
Awww. I was smiling through this whole thing. I miss the days of "real communication." Whereas today there are "faceless individuals" who stand in cyberspace able to get info about any individual without their consent.
However, there is a infinitesimal amount of good with the advancement in technology, reasons of which will invariably differ, but reasons nonetheless.

The way of the world can open up the wide gate which lead us upon the broad road which leads to destruction. This is part of Satan's continued plan of deception through lies.
You are correct we need to stay in God's word to find his way for us.
