in the still sacred splendor of this misty dawn
will i capture the shadow of His face?
will i sense the gentle wind of His breath
or perhaps glimpse His loving hands
opening the gates of heaven
releasing celestial dew to paint the desert ground with hope?
the Lord is my strength and song
and He has become my salvation (1)
in the still sacred splendor of this misty dawn
i wait with hungry heart
amidst the barren wilderness of despair
far and away from home
yet three days now this heavenly manna has fallen upon the earth
becoming my daily bread
nourishing body, soul, and spirit
enlivening my trust in Him
for no food hath satisfied the hunger within
as this celestial dew that paints the desert ground with hope
the Lord is my strength and song
and He has become my salvation
in the still sacred splendor of this misty dawn
my eyes behold the divine bread falling from His hands
floating softly through the gates of heaven
i sense the gentle wind brushing across my face
a shadow moving across the wet land
thus my heart sings jubilantly in rhythm with Miriam’s tambourine
dancing unto the Lord
for in the midst of this barren wilderness
He feeds me with the celestial dew that paints the desert ground with hope
the Lord is my strength and song
and He has become my salvation
