But if given time and you hear me out,
I'll nail down the facts
So you won't have a doubt.
Today, nobody knows my name. I'm just an unknown nobody bopping along through "Life" along with millions of others. But tomorrow? Well, that's the unbelievable story you're about to hear.
About a month ago, wanting to relax and unwind, I sat down at the Comp and clicked onto a game of Euchre. It's a pretty fast game so there's no time for chatting with your partner or opponents...you just play. So, after my partner and I had won about five games in a row, I finally noticed his screen name - "Composer".
Intrigued, I held up the game for a minute to ask if it meant he was a real composer? He replied, "Yes," so we exchanged email address's before we left the game.
Relaxed and unwound now, I shifted into the mode of excitement and hope, as I wrote to "Composer", asking him if he would consider putting my lyrics to music.
His reply, "Send the lyrics and I'll check them out," signed, Kruno.
I sent my lyrics and he liked them. A few days later he wrote, "toying around with different ideas." The next week Kruno wrote, "coming along nicely, have instrumental backup with son and a friend - and sounding good."
Meanwhile, I'm sitting on pins and needles; wondering, waiting, and dreaming of Kruno's and my giving birth to a Hit song, being heard around the world, big fat royalties rolling in, old man poverty being kicked out the door, and YES - no-name me becoming a famous household word. (It doesn't cost to dream - so dream big?)
On July 9, 2010 I received an email from my cohort Kruno; "Our masterpiece is born, and will cut a demo in the studio today: as soon as I get it "burned" (which are words a layman doesn't understand)...I'll email it to you."
Sure enough, the next day I opened an email from Krono. "Rev up your speakers and you'll hear our newborn's voice....Listen and Enjoy!"
I didn't waste any time. At last! I was Hearing my words set to music. I was enthralled, excited, and (Sorry, Lord) but a litle bit proud.
Kruno, I learned, was not only my composer, cohort, and newfound friend, but a singer, musician and neighbor of the USA, in Kitchener, Ontario. He said he had tried our song out in front of a live audience, who had received it with resounding raves of kudos and applause.
Just two complete strangers
A Canuck and a Yank
Did we get together by chance?
Or is it God we should thank?
Give us a Drum Roll, please: "Hear Ye! Hear Ye!" the announcer begins, And then another Drum Roll sounds.... "And the 2011 Grammy Award for the Best Gospel Song Of The Year IS:" and eerily silence reigns... 'Name The Gate' , by Kruno and _____", and all I can hear is the roar of the crowd. Now they know my name. The whole world knows my name....I'm a song writer!
Of course the "Tomorrow" part is fictional, but the rest of the story is true, believe me! All true with a very unique sense of happenstance, I'd say.
Just remember...
Worry looks around
Sorry looks back
But Faith looks up.

: Note to my Canadian friend and cohort. "You're the best, Kruno! See ya next year at the Grammys - and we'll meet at Stage Door Gate.

Not sure if totally on topic.
So unpredictable and yet very believable.
