Someone else’s pen changing
My words no longer mine
Spaces, commas moving
My words no longer mine
How much a page they want
Is it a fee or a fine
I think this is a taunt
My words no longer mine
My work, they add their name
Legal but it’s a crime
It’s just a crying shame
My words no longer mine
Who do they think they are
My work was really fine
I want feathers and tar
My words no longer mine
More adjectives and verbs
Meter’s not in my time
For an upset, burned-out, dumbfounded writer this irritates and perturbs
My words no longer mine
Send back with my approval
Changes on every line
What recourse at my disposal
My words no longer mine
Do changes and send back
Am I out of my mind
It’s just hack, hack, hack, hack
My words no longer mine
Mail’s arrived, one letter
Accepts, sign dotted line
Oh, I love my editor
