“It is not good for man to be alone…”
And then…
there was Melissa—
a feeling, thinking, loving,
desirable being;
a new dimension
moving in the springtime of my life.
When I heard my name being called,
I came forth.
I exposed my nakedness as a person to you.
You looked inside and unclosed me,
petal
by
petal.
I revealed to you parts of myself
s-l-o-w-l-y.
You opened drawers,
that mostly had stayed closed,
and began to unwrap
small pieces of velvet
that had been tucked away.
You brought forth ideas and love,
hopes.
You found bits and pieces of myself
that had been grabbed off
in chunks
and left lying in my hands.
You asked, in love, if I would join you
in our new springtime as we replanted
seeds of love.
We tilled the soil and waited for spring’s
first rain.
Slowly the ground gave way
and together we watched
a love miraculously reborn
as spring’s first rose.
