When nature steps out in her finest and best,
The cold chill of winter has all disappeared,
The world’s freshly wakened and full of good cheer--
A maiden resplendent in beautiful dress,
A dazzling damsel who’s out to impress.
The mountain’s white mantle has melted to mist,
A splash of new colour adorning its peak,
The earth and the sky met in mid-morning tryst
Where high lofty summit and warm sunlight kissed,
Now all summer long earth has blush on her cheek
While mist on her head adds an air of mystique.
In heart I return to those days long ago
When love was abloom in two hearts without care;
Through time and the seasons would blossom and grow,
Like sun sets the mountain and flowers aglow—
Our tryst was the start of a life we would share—
The light on the mount to our love I compare.
For thirty six years we have bloomed in its heights,
The sun shining strong even as we grow old,
Its warmth ever glows and its blush still delights
Through warm summer days and the long winter nights;
True love did not fade nor did romance grow cold,
In youth and in age, a delight to the soul.
