In and out of school.
And even in and out of work
Wow, life is so harsh and cruel.
And then I joined the Service,
Doing three years for Uncle Sam,
But when I got out - I met trouble again
And got into another big jam.
Well, I did ten years in prison
And just got out today.
But what will I do? I haven't a clue,
As to If I can work, eat or pay?
I was in deep, deep distress
And filled with fear and doubt
Of what to do with a broken life
Or to find an easy "In or Out."
Suddenly I recalled a childhood song
One I had learned as a boy,
"Jesus Loves me, this I know,"
And instantly dialed Heaven with joy.
"Come in, Jesus, answer me, please,
I need You to help me out.
I've made so many goof-ups, Lord,
I need You to straighten me out."
"Welcome, my son, I'm here, I'm here."
His voice filled with emotion and love untold
As He said, "Together we'll find the answers, my son,
And I'm so glad you are back in the fold."
