Start coffee, wake kiddies, paint on my disguise
Make breakfast, check homework, call kids once again
Kiss Hubby; feed kitty, “Bobby…Joey…Jen!”
Find a clean shirt, zip jackets, warm up the car
Backpacks, class projects, “Be careful don’t mar!”
Head to market, post office, take the car to get gassed
Just a typical morning, soon I’ll be home at last!
Get a second cup, half a donut, the telephone rings
Clean dishes, moving so fast you’d think I had wings!
Make up beds and straighten, “Lord, I forgot to pray!”
"Bless Hubby, Bobby, Joey and Jen in their day."
Retrieve trashcans, step in mud, grab up the news
Campaign in the headlines, politics and their views
Defrost meat for supper, start wash, get the phone
More coffee, pay bills and some on the loan
Take time for devotion and pray with a friend
Send some emails, exercise…it’s so hard to bend!
Ignore the phone, mending that hole in the jeans
Peel potatoes, check on meat, prepare the green beans
Kids home, check their feet, no making of tracks
“Hang clothes up then sit down and have a few snacks.”
“Do homework,” sign permission slip: trip to the zoo
Mash potatoes, baste the meat and stir the beans too
Help with fractions, listening to Jen as she reads
Set the table, make the ice tea, see to the needs
Finish the gravy; fix the rolls that Hubby likes
“Kids, time for dinner, and put up the bikes.”
Hubby’s home, dinner starts, much conversation
Clean up dishes, store leftovers without hesitation
Sit with Hubby discussing the news of the day
A yawn, with a stretch and a sigh as I may
Then Hubby asked what I did while he worked
“Oh, not much just the usual,” I said as I smirked
This day was a breeze, but I’m feeling some dizzy
For tomorrow’s workload will leave me quite busy!
