The first to born of three… weight ~ 6 pounds 5 ounces, full head of hair, crying without a doctors spank ~ male.

the second to be born of three… weight ~ 6 pounds 7 ounces, clenched fisted, also crying upon delivery, red hair ~ female.

The third of three… weight ~ 5 pounds 4 ounces, calm, quiet, lifeless, not breathing ~ female.
Without hesitation a code blue sounded within the stark white walled hospital at Charlotte West Port Emergency Clinic. The halls of the maternity ward blurred with white coats going in all directions. Room 20 consumed all available help to save a new born life.
A resident chaplain was praying as I grasped my wife’s hand. I also was praying and asking God for His mercy. My wife passed out from stress and exhaustion giving birth to three premature children within a very short time.
That was fifteen years ago.
The first child, William Blake, grew to be a fine, outgoing, congenial youth, a leader in his school, church and at home. We were always proud of him being able to take the proverbial “Bull the horns,” as challenges for him were never viewed as setbacks. Every day he looked for something new to stretch his mind and heart for the love of God.
The second child, Mary Beth, often seemed aloof to life. She was more interested in games, TV, and her cell phone than anything else. We wondered if she would change, not that this behavior was bad in any sense, but just that it was so different than her brother’s demeanor.
The third, Tanya, was shy, quiet, and withdrawn. She was always content with playing alone, keeping things to herself, and being melancholy.
After God had sparred my daughters life I was determined to dedicate my time to make sure they all aspired to be bold for the Lord, but they were all so different. “God, how can I accomplish this?”
William seemed to be our strongest hope.
An opportunity came along to have a summer student exchange program introduced into our home. We assumed that this would be a great way for William to exercise his gifts of leadership, but we were wrong.
Our exchange student came from a small town in Ireland. William’s personality proved to be a little bit strong for the boy who was one of five kids in the only Christian youth group for miles around. He had admitted to only joining the other youth to have something to do.
Who knew that this proved to be just what Tanya needed to burst forth in the area of evangelism?
How did we know that she was really our little evangelist? It wasn’t long before the boy received the Lord into his heart. Also, once back in his home town now boasts of twice as many youth coming to Christ, and they are on fire to witness their love for God.
Mary Beth got so excited for the Emerald Isle that she now is planning to go on a short-term mission trip to Ireland herself.
William, not to be outdone by his sisters, wants to take a music ministry group, by an invitation to visit all the youth groups it can handle within a three week window of time, and will be leaving just a few months from now.
Triplet siblings, yes they are, and as different as night and day.
I must admit God has His unique way of putting me in my place. What was I ever worried about? God’s certainly has got things under His control.
God brought me to a most comforting passage of scripture.
Eph 1:3-6
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.
