Embodying power in surging surf
Cascading down in outpourings
Of love and grace.
I am a slushy, muck-filled stream,
A worthless, dribbling dewdrop,
Nonetheless, gleaming with glee,
Since I’m His tributary.
His voice, like rushing waters,
Is saturating me.
An irresistible, mighty tide,
Has swept me in, and won’t let go.
White waves are daily washing down
The shingle from my shores,
And carrying it in currents on
The full flow of forgiveness.
The washed up junk from yesterday,
Flung into a forgetful sea,
Plummets the depths of the ocean floor,
And submerges, never to surface.
E’en when my course runs through the desert,
On dry and desiccated land
Your streams of life stretch out to me,
And fix me to my Source.
And so with gratitude and praise,
Into this vast expanse I mix,
My own indebted, tearful, salty stream,
A tiny drop -
In an ocean of grace.
Sea analogies inspired by a selection of scripture:
Psalm 93 v 4
Ezekiel 43 v 2
Isaiah 32 v 2
