The most awesome miracle happens when our life begins at conception. We are uniquely and wonderfully formed from the most beautiful simple act of love by our parents. Our being gets underway with just a few of the tiniest cells. Just imagine how minute we once were! In about twelve weeks into the pregnancy, our whole body is completely formed and is about a couple inches in length, weighing about an ounce. The baby’s sex is determined to either be male or female at this stage in the game. We have ten fingers and ten toes. We are growing and maturing in our mother’s womb over the next twenty-eight weeks.
Over these last weeks, we would grow to about seven pounds and about twenty-one inches long, at forty weeks, leading to our birth. When life is initiated, it is nothing short of a miracle. I can remember when I was carrying my children. I can recollect when I found out I was pregnant with each one of them. I would look forward to each visit to the doctor where I would hear their tiny little heart beat. Each month they would have doubled in size to where finally I would be able to feel them move in my tummy. Before long, the baby would be big enough that I not only could feel them moving but could see them moving. The tears would flow every time I saw the babies on ultra sound or hear their tiny heart beats.
I can’t help but to think how God had knitted us together in our mother’s womb.
Psalm 139:13-17 (KJV)
“For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!”
Oh, what a blessed day when the day comes when they are finally born. The neat feeling of love for my husband was so awesome when each one of the babies had been laid upon my tummy. To hear them cry right after birth was the most beautiful sound that I as a mom had waited to hear. I couldn’t wait for when each one would be brought to the room for me to hold and nurse and care for them. The first time the baby would come to me from the nursery, I would count the finger and toes.
We have begun our time on earth sleeping three quarters of the day. We wake up just enough to eat and have our diapers changed. As time goes on we are waking up more and more. We become more alive. Mommy gets to see all the wonderful things we can do.
I can remember when each one of my children was little when they would meet certain mile stones in life, how happy I would be. Some of my children were slower meeting them then the others but in God’s timing each one would meet their mile stones. Just like with us we have a mile stone that some of us never meet if we do it might be late in life, just before we die, if then maybe we will meet it. That mile stone is coming to know Christ as our Savior.
Our purpose here on this earth is to serve our Lord. We come to know His ways by reading His word and hearing His word in Bible study and or at church. Our relationship with the Lord deepens when we have given our total life to Him. We talk to Him through prayer. If we don’t come sometime in our life to know the Rising Savior we will never see life to its highest potently. Our lives will enter into total damnation when we die if we don’t accept Christ.
