Personal peace in our lives can only come from a strong relationship with God. Without this relationship with God we will never be able to obtain peace in our lives. No amount of personal wealth or the acquiring of material possessions will bring peace to our lives. Money can not buy friendship or love, not even respect. Take as an example the so called rich and famous, do they have peace in their lives? Does the person that lives in a mansion and has servants to wait on him have peace in his or her life? Does the person that lives in the street have peace? The answer to all the above is a resounding no!
Once upon a time I thought I had it made because I had all the material things that I could buy and wanted for nothing, or so I thought. I had the love of a good woman but do to my lack of belief in God and low moral standards I lost it all. What I didn’t understand was that if I had loved God and the woman that loved me I would have been rich beyond my wildest dreams. Wealth is not the ownership of either money or property, but the feeling that you have when you have inner peace, or peace of mind. God is the answer when it comes to finding this peace. Peace is also the ability to be happy and secure under any kind of stress. Few people can be happy when they are stressed or ill or have lost a loved one, but through God we can all learn to accept the things we have and the conditions we are living under.
Every time I feel depressed or lost and start feeling sorry for my self I think of an old saying that puts things in perspective. The saying goes ( Instead of feeling bad about all the things I don’t have or have lost I say a thank you to God for all the things that I do have) We can all say this with meaning because each and every one of us can find something to be thankful for in their lives. We complain about our aches and pains and about our sore hands or feet, but thanks to God we have hands and feet to complain about. Thanks to God we are not paralyzed and do not have the ability to feel anything.
God in his wisdom will hand down to each of us different obstacles to overcome, some will be larger than others but God has a reason for what he does. Some of us will suffer a lot and some will not, because sometimes it takes suffering to make us see the light. Some of us would never be able to come home to God if our lives ran along smooth, so sometimes God has to bring about hardship to make us seek his help. The lord works in mysterious ways, his wonders yet to perform. It is beyond out ability to know why God does what he does.
Today or tonight get down on your knees and ask God to help you find personal peace, and to help you live a good christen life. God will hear your prayers and if you truly believe in him he will answer them. God knows what you want and need before you ask. Personal peace will come to you through God or Jesus Christ, there is no other way.
