A memorial service was held for him Tuesday April 25 and there was standing room only. People poured in to remember this young man and to show support for the parents and brother that he left behind. These people, just like me, will continue on with their lives. When we are reminded of what has happened we will all experience a moment of grief but will easily shake it off. This family will day after day face an empty place at the table, an empty bedroom, and an empty spot in their lives.
Where does that inner strength come from that allows you to get out of bed each morning? What type of inner strength does it take not to seek justice on your own? God provides that strength if we let him. Each one of us has to trust God daily because our world is deteriorating at a rapid pace.
As a parent you love, worry, hug, kiss, laugh, and cry over your child and the thought that someone could take that away in a matter of moments is heart breaking. Could I bear that? Could you? Hug your family close and remind them often that you love them. Teach your children daily to ‘love your neighbor as yourself’ because according to Romans 13:8-10 by following that commandment all other commandments will be fulfilled.
