Scripture addresses selfishness in the following verses. These verses, referenced, are from the KJV
Isa 56:11 Yea, they are greedy dogs that can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand; they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.
Greedy dogs, shepherds that cannot understand, each out for himself. Does this remind you of someone you know?
Rom 15:1 We then, that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves
“We then…………..” does this not call for reflection and introspection within ourselves?
2 Corinth 5:15 And that he died for all, that they who live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him who died for them, and rose again.
Jesus instructs us that he died for all our sinful natures and that he rose again to cleanse us of our sins.
2 Tim 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boosters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy.
Is this not condemnation for those that are selfish?
I, admittedly, have had disdain, for those I’ve known who are selfish. Scripture tells us “We, then, that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak………….” This seems like a straight forward action that we are to take when we encounter these poor souls. I ask God for guidance in changing my feelings and how I deal with “selfish” people, I urge you to do likewise.
In Gods time not ours.
