What To Wear Everywhere?

Romans 13:12- “The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.”

As Christians, we can't physically wear anything we want to wear. Short shorts, mini skirts and revealing clothes are a no no for born again Christian women and men. In the Old Testament, the Bible says that women shouldn't dress like men, and men shouldn't dress like women. “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God,” (Deuteronomy 22:5). “In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair or gold, or pearls, or costly array But which becometh women professing godliness with good works,” (I Timothy 2:9-10). “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven,” (Matthew 5:16).

There isn't a specific time or place to be a Christian. We can't pick or choose the situations where we will wear Christ and act like him, imitating his love. For we as Christians, must strive to imitate Christ's example at all times, not just sometimes. We can't be Christians on Sunday morning and then Monday through Saturday we act like a child of darkness, instead of a child of the light. Jesus is that light that dwells in all born again believers. We must let that light shine 24/7 in our lives, so that it can diffuse and penetrate into the lives of everyone who comes in contact with us. Wherever, we go, we must let that light shine.

So, what must we wear spiritually? It is not about wearing expensive clothes and pricey jewelry. God wants us to clothe ourselves spiritually by putting on the armour of God and wearing our good works. “And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness,” (Ephesians 4:24). To put on the new man means to put on Christ and walk in the light of the Spirit. “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof,” (Romans 13:14). To wear Christ, means to wear his righteousness. To wear Christ means to wear the fruits of the spirit: “love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law,” (Galatians 5: 22-23). To wear Christ means to walk in the light. Jesus says, “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness,” (John 12:46). “This I say then, walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye can not do the things ye would,” (Galatians 5:16-17). “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ,” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).

We must wear the whole armour of God everywhere we go and in everything that we do. “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil,” (Ephesians 6:11). “Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God:,” (Ephesians 6:14-17). Once armed with the whole armour of God you can stand against anything the enemy throws against you. You can live the way God intended for you to live: a happy and peaceful life full of love, mercy, grace, forgiveness, and faithfulness in our Lord Jesus Christ. Remember to clothe yourself spiritually everyday; as you would clothe yourself physically; being obedient unto death to word of our Lord and Savior.

Interesting thought to "wear Christ." Makes sense.

This is a meal. Certainly what the Holy Spirit would confirm in us all.
Was it a little didactic? I don't know. We all know everything He instructs is for our own good and the good of others. And that He would deliver it with gentliness,life and revelation. I've received plenty of that.
I really enjoyed the explanation of 'wearing Christ'. I've worked on that, wondered how on earth to do that, and even tried imagining pulling Christ on as a robe. Thank you for your interpretation. It makes perfect sense to me now.
