Come Here and Hear of Our Promised Savior

Luke 2:10 KJV-"And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people."
Luke 2: 11 KJV-"For unto you is born this day in the city of David a savior, which is Christ the Lord."
Luke 2: 20 KJV-"And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen as it was told unto them."

In Luke chapter two, verses eight through eleven, the Bible tells us that the angels, the hosts of heaven, first appeared unto country shepherds who were in the field watching after their flock at nighttime. The angels spoke great news to the shepherds. The angels told them of the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. God's people had knowledge of a coming savior many years before. Prophets of old such as Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Zachariah prophesied about this coming Messiah. Ezekiel 34: 16 states, what the promised Messiah will come to earth to do. " I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick:" (Ezekiel 34: 16 KJV). These same words are spoken by Jesus in Luke chapter 19 verse 10 to Zacchaeus, a publican. "For the son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost," (Luke 19:10 KJV). "And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David: he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd," (Ezekiel 34: 23). These verses are referring to Jesus, the promised Messiah.

The prophet Isaiah also prophesied about the birth of the coming Messiah. "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace, " (Isaiah 9:6 KJV). Zachariah prophesied also of a promised savior who would be lowly and meek. Hear what the prophet Zachariah prophesied. "Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass," (Zachariah 9: 9 KJV). Luke chapter 18 verses 30-43, are the fulfillment of this prophecy made by the prophet Zachariah many years before the birth of Christ. In verse 30 of Luke chapter 19, Jesus sends two of his disciples into the village to find a colt, that no man had ever sat upon and to bring the colt to him. "And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon. And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way. And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of olives, the whole multitude of disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen: Saying, blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: Peace in heaven and glory in the highest," (Luke 19:35-38 KJV).

Oh what great joy and praise the people offer to God with the mention of the name of our savior, Jesus Christ. Jesus' name is associated with power and glory. Healing and miracles are associated with the name of Christ. This is evident in Luke chapter 7, verses 2-3, "when a certain centurion's servant who was dear unto him was sick, and ready to die," (Luke 7:2 KJV). "When he (the centurion) heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant," (Luke 7:3 KJV). Jesus healed the centurion's servant by the words of his mouth (Luke 7:7 KJV). In this same chapter in verses 11-15, Jesus travels to the city of Nain and there he brings back to life, a widow's only son who had died. "And there came a fear on all and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and That God hath visited his people," (Luke 7:16).

Let us open our hearts and hear about Christ's goodness toward mankind. He is still here among us in spirit and in truth today.
