I am thanking God as now is a season of forgotten prayers coming to fruition in my life. When I was young, I was part of the choir in our church in India. Not an extravagant choir, yet we had all four parts, and we sang hymns for the Sunday service. I was part of the Soprano. We had one sister who did the alto part. I admired her singing. I had a great desire to do alto too, but I never got a chance.
Decades went by. I got married and moved to the United States. Down the line, our church here started an Indian campus too. I attended both English and the Indian service and became active part in the Indian worship team.
With so much nervousness and lack of musical knowledge, I started off in the worship team. When I was asked to be part of the worship team, only one thought crossed my mind, “How can I of all people say “No” to this, because God has been so good to me?”. One of the biggest things God had done for me is He delivered me completely from depression. So, I always gave my very best to do the worship and to improve my skills.
Every Christmas time, I had a desire for our worship team to do Christmas songs with the parts. But year after year, it did not happen.
This year, in God’s miraculous way, an American lady who has a heart to serve Indian orphan children, started to attend our Indian church. She had studied music in college, and she helped to put together our worship team to do couple Christmas songs in parts. I can’t do low alto voice. I thought she would select me for Soprano, as before. Right off, she asked me to do alto. For a moment, I felt disappointed because I thought I can almost hit those high notes for soprano just as she sang. But later I realized that God granted the desire of my young age to do alto. With so much enthusiasm, I practiced the alto part. At this age, God gave me the privilege to learn piano and that helped me much to pick up the alto part so quickly.
Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4 NKJV
Now is the season in my life where I can boldly say that I do delight in the Lord with all my heart. And I felt so amazed to see these forgotten desires even being granted by God. He is faithful like no other. He remembers everything like no other.
