Previous Challenge Entry (Level 2 – Intermediate)
Topic: TRAIL (05/13/21)
My daughter and I start out on our walk through the woods. It is a bright, slightly humid day in May. The first part of the trail is shaded by trees that meet overhead. Birds flit about going from tree to tree chirping as they go.

We round a bend and encounter a small bridge over a creek. My daughter excitedly points out a turtle sunning on a rock which startles it and it glides into the water.

On the other side of the bridge the path splits to the left and right.

"Which way, mom", my daughter asks.

"Look for the markers", I tell her and show her the colored markings on the trees that point the way for the various trails in the park.

The trails are marked because someone has gone first, encountered the obstacles and discovered the best way to go. We can safely and confidently follow the signs without getting lost.

There are many examples in God's Word of people who have gone before us.

Some chose to trust God and were blessed.

Others chose not to and were lost.

The entire 11th chapter of Hebrews lists many who chose to trust God.

These faithful men and women marked the path for us. They depended on God to show the way.

And God promises to show us the best way, His way. In His Word He has given us markers to follow. If we follow His instructions and learn from those who have gone before us we will stay on the right path.

Good and upright is the LORD; therefore He instructs sinners in the way (Psalm 25:8 ESV)

In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths. (Proverbs 3:6 ESV)

When we, like those who have gone before us, follow the markings we find in God's Word, we walk safely and confidently wherever we go.

I enjoyed this writing very much. I like how you refer to God's guidance of our paths after you introduce you and your daughter. Nicely done.

This is a lovely devotion. I like how you started with a situation most can relate to. The Scriptures you picked where spot on. If you add a prayer at the end, you'd have a devotional ready for most forums. I really enjoyed it.

Well done.

I like to suggest reading your entry out loud to yourself to catch flow discrepancies. It could use a few tweaks here and there.
