Topic: FALSE (04/15/21)
The beauty of the garden bathed in the golden rays of the rising sun surrounded Eve with peace and happiness. The serene silence was disturbed by a voice calling to her. She up into the overhanging branches to find the serpent smiling at her.
" Do you like your garden ,Eve ? Do you enjoy the fruits from all the trees?" He asked.
"I do ," Eve replied, "Except the one over there. God told us not to go near it because if we eat its fruit we will die."
"Oh, no Eve", said the serpent ,"All that God created is good. ( Gen. 1:12 ). You will not die, ( a lie ) but your eyes will be opened and you will be like God. (a false promise). ( Gen. 3: 4 -6) In the shadows Satan fixed his arrow of false promise into his bow of lies and targeted his first victim. For an instant Eve forgot the Lord's warning and reaching up plucked and ate the forbidden fruit. Satan's arrow found its mark.


Many decades later, in another garden, King Ahab of Israel, is admiring the flowers and the fountains. "All I lack is a herb garden, but there is no room for it," he mused. His wandering glance swept over his fence and into his neighbor, Naboth, the Jezreelite's vineyard .
" That would suit my purpose beautifully," Ahab thought . He asked Naboth to sell him the vineyard. Being his ancestral property, Naboth refused making Ahab very angry and frustrated. Noticing his evil temper, his wife, Jezebel,



decided to straiten things up. Using Ahab's seal and authority, she manipulated two witnesses to bear false witness against Naboth and condemned him to death by stoning . With Naboth dead, Ahab walked into his vineyard and possessed it. Satan's arrow had found another victim.


Centuries later , Jesus , the Savior, is fasting and praying in the wilderness . As the Son of Man, He is alone, hungry and weak. Finding Him a prime candidate for his attacks, Satan aims his arrows at him. Three times he shoots but none of them hit its target. The reason being that Jesus had a weapon , the two- edged sword, the Word of God, which was much sharper, much quicker and more powerful ( Heb :4 :12) than Satan's bow of lies and arrows of false promises.


Three different events, during three different times in history, all with a message still valid to our present age. Satan is even now prowling around with his bow and arrows searching for his victims. Anyone who is not proficient in wielding the two-edged sword will be defeated and overcome by him. The message is clear : God has given us the sword, our Bible, He has sent His Spirit to teach us and understand it, He has given us His power. A sword hung on the wall as a decoration will become rusty. A sword placed in a satin lined box will soon be tarnished. It has to be used and practiced always to keep it functional. And so is the Bible, God's Word. That is the message : revere God's Word - read, understand, enjoy, practice and share - and then the arrows of Satan's false promises cannot ruin you.

You probably accidentally pressed the submit button; however, the article has good content. My suggestion would be to concentrate and build on one of the examples your article is about. Keep writing.

I am a new member at Faithwriter's and don't count myself necessarily qualified to critique; however, it looks to me like you need to be careful in proofing your article. It takes away from getting the most out of it. You have a large span of space between a couple of the paragraphs which is very noticeable. Towards the beginning of your article, there is no spacing between paragraphs. These kinds of things causes me to not enjoy the writing as much as I could if I was distracted by the structure of the sentences and paragraphs. Other than that, you obviously have thought this article out very well.

I really like your reference to the sword of the Spirit, God's living and active powerful Word.

However there were numerous typographical errors that may have disqualified your article.

I'm not professionally trained in language, but I am an avid reader and I noticed spacing issues and possible POV - point of view discrepancies.

There is an area prior to submitting where you may preview your entry prior to the final submission.

You wrote a good article and I'd like to encourage you to keep writing.

Perhaps finding a Challenge buddy by reading the current entries and finding someone who is actively posting and sending them a private message and requesting that you buddy up and preview each others articles for suggestions or editing help.

You make some great points in this piece. The examples you gave are good ones. Sometimes I was confused who was speaking or exactly what you meant. One thing that will help this is to read your article out loud, or even better ask someone else to read it to you. If the person stumbles or needs to repeat herself, that's a great clue that it needs some tweaking and proofing. You've done a nice job of writing on topic. You have a clear message and I can feel your passion to share the glory of God through your writing.

Well written and you maintained my interest to the end. Apart from a couple of typos, I couldn't see anything that could improve what you wrote.
