Usually, when we think of the word deposit, we think of money or putting money into a bank account or into some type of account or holding place. To deposit means to put something into something else. God, our creator, deposited Jesus Christ, his only begotten son, into the Earth to save mankind. God deposited his Holy Spirit into his only begotten son, Jesus Christ. On becoming Christians, we confess our sins, repent, and get baptized in the name of the father, the son, and the Holy Ghost or the Holy Spirit. In return we invite Jesus into our hearts and lives. The love of God is deposited into our hearts, minds, and spirits. As Christians, Jesus is deposited into our lives and it is his faith and actions we must imitate to answer God’s great commission for all believers. Upon accepting Christ we are rewarded with the great deposit of God’s Holy Spirit or the Holy Ghost. The Holy Spirit is truly one of the greatest deposits we can receive from God our Father. For this great deposit comforts us, teaches us, and prays for us. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you and shall be in you (John 14: 16-17). But the comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance (John 14:26). Likewise, the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered (Romans 8: 26).
Jesus deposited the Holy Spirit into his disciples after he had risen from the dead. And when he had said this he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost (John 20: 21). Jesus’ breath was anointed. He transferred his anointing unto his disciples and charged them to fulfill the great commission. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and low I am with you always, even unto the end of the world (Matthew 28: 19-20). God also transferred some of the Holy Spirit that was in Moses unto seventy elders out of the congregation of Israel. These men would help Moses judge and rule over the people of Israel. God deposited his spirit into these seventy men. And the Lord came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease (Numbers 11:25). The same thing happened at the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit was deposited into the believers who worshipped with the Apostles after the resurrection of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:1-4).
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them, cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues as the spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:1-4).
The apostles were so anointed by the Lord with the Holy Spirit that the people even thought that their shadows had power to heal and restore. In so much that they brought forth the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that the least shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them (Act 5:15). We know that Jesus clothes were Holy and filled with the power of the Holy Ghost, for he was a high priest (Exodus 28: 2-4, 31-35).
God deposits blessings into our lives every day: the breath of life being the most important deposit of God’s daily love. For, Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits (Psalms 68: 19).
