Topic: HANDIWORK (01/14/21)
As a young boy in a small English village, I enjoyed being with my Gran and Auntie in their picturesque thatched cottage out in the fields. They had big gardens, an orchard, chickens, fruit trees and lots more.
Aunt Win was in charge of the flower borders. One long border was raised a bit above the cobbled stone path that went down to the house. One day I was looking at its range of flowers which were just coming into bloom, and I clearly remember gazing at a spray of very tiny flowers. They spoke to me. Around their centres, I saw such beautiful colours gleaming like delicate enamel. No wonder Gran called them London pride.
As I gazed at them, I said to myself, “Only God could have made such beautiful things.” It was the first spiritual thought I can remember.

Many years later, I discovered that Creator as my Saviour, and my delight in the world around me greatly increased. George Wade Robinson’s hymn puts that deepened experience perfectly:
“Heaven above is softer blue, earth around is sweeter green!
Something lives in every hue, Christless eyes have never seen.”
That enjoyment has never diminished. For me, ‘something lives’ in every part of Creation to teach me more about God.

The Lord Jesus Christ used natural objects to illustrate spiritual truth – birds, a grain of wheat, a vine, flowers, the sky, and so on. The Old Testament speaks of the ant, locusts, eagles, clouds, trees, flowers, and streams, to name but a few.
Join me in seeing and listening to some of those small voices.
God’s design and work in Creation has been speaking for centuries.

Loved the warmth and vibrancy of your intro, but suddenly it stopped well within the word limit. I'll look forward to your work expanding in future, as have real talent as a writer.

Hallelujah! Makes me want to worship. I know exactly the joy you speak of and you captured it beautifully. You have a lovely way with words. I didn’t want it to end. Keep writing!
