However, the word: 'indefinite' takes a look from the short-sighted lenses; for in the long or short run, there finally comes an end to that length of time.
In the full circle of our lives, there are basically two kinds of moments: dark moments and bright moments.
Synonymous to Good and Evil.
Analogous to the main colours: white and black.
For example, some seasons, some moments, I find myself easygoing and outgoing. Other times, I find myself undergoing some circumstances in which I am helpless; crashing under the weight of my troubles. This most times result to a state of inertia.
But someway somehow, there are times that are not so cloudy, nor so sunny. More like an inbewteen of the desired and undesired. A mix of smiles, laughter, hugs and that of cries, sorrow and pain.
They become the bright-dark moments.
The good-evil scenes.
The white-black canvas.
These are the moments with a tint of black and a shade of white-the grey moments.
Like streaks of sunlight piercing through the window sills, brightening up the eyes. Simultaneously, there is cold, and all I crave to do is wrap myself up in my blanket.
Maybe these moments/seasons are worse than the dark moments, because they bring with it some heightened sense of confusion.
Times when a woman knows her husband is cheating on her, but is surrounded by the warmth of her children’s love.
Times when a loved one gets so sick of a terminal disease, but a letter of promotion lands in the mail.
Times when the world is suffering from the cruel hands of a virus, but we still smile around the dinner table because someone said something funny.
These times could be obviously hard.
But what if we looked beyond the broad classifications of white, black and grey. And open ourselves up to a wide range of flavours in the colour spectrum, that add up glamour to our world. These colours don’t suppress others, they only shine in their own unique way.
They are the colours inbetween black and white,
shots inbetween the bright and dark moments,
scenes inbetween the good and evil times.
Allow me to introduce to you, the flavour in the colour spectrum of humans, the substance: HOPE
It's the assurance of things hoped for,
the conviction of things not seen.
The sure anchor to the soul,
Unshakeable, unmovable.
It's a soothing balm to the weary heart,
a requisite for the believer.
It doesn’t discard the reality or truth of the present times.
It just shines through, like light shining that darkness cannot comprehend.
And gives an elevated effect to man’s soul-
HOPE
