What Do You See in God’s Rainbow?

Wondrous beauty, with perfect architecture, and the immense vision across the sky, are a few graceful things I see in a rainbow. A rainbow floats across the sky as if it were a ballet dancer, and it dances on its toes from one end to the other. The majestic colors are reminders of the diversity of God’s power, promises, and love. The archway seems endless as the sign of the covenant between God and the earth brings my heart so much peace. If only the true and significant meaning of the God’s rainbow could reach everyone to the ends of the earth.

Genesis 9: 13-16 reads:

13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of all flesh that is on the earth.

As I read these verses in Genesis, the colors of the rainbow speak to my heart some of the teachings and lessons that Jesus has spoken to my life. Jesus has added many wonderful colors to my life with each sunrise and sunset.

From the top of the rainbow to the bottom, here are the colors in order:

Red - R stands for the resurrection of Jesus when he died on the cross and rose again, and His sacrifice allows me to rest in His loving arms.

Orange - O stands for open doors for me to walk through as He offered me salvation.

Yellow – Y stands for yielding to His will, and the plan for my life as I yoke myself to Jesus.

Green – G stands for God the Father, and His greatness for the way He shows me grace each day, giving me opportunities to humbly serve Him in obedience.

Blue – B is for the boldness I can show in my stand for Jesus Christ. The beauty of the earth is ours to behold as there is a bounty of color to illuminate our visions and dreams.

Indigo – I stands for the important decisions I have to make, as I seek God’s face for wisdom, discernment, and guidance. In His time and will is what I wait for daily.

Violet – V stands for victory in Jesus, that anyone can have, by repenting and accepting Him as their personal Savior. No other winning way could ever match the gift of salvation.

May the colors of the rainbow forever remind us all that God’s promises are true. He is still on the throne, and the color of His love for the world endures forever. Heaven will be filled with joy, peace, life, no sorrow, no pain, no tears. A rainbow of pure delight awaits us there.
