regarding what I'm about to share with you on some level.
Just under five months ago, my wife and I lost one of our
three adult children.
It was one of our precious daughters, and our three children are so very special to us as they are gifts from God. She was forty-five years old and loved by most. She was a fine wife and mother of an eleven-year-old son. My family has always been very close; the loss of such an intricate member of our family unit to this day dealt a crushing blow. If it were not for the Holy Spirit, our Comforter, I believe that my family would have shattered. I don't know why it still surprises me to continue to run into people outside of our family who still wish to share their condolences and a funny story about our daughter?
Those of you who have ever lost someone, a grand-parent,
a mom or dad, you kind of know what I'm attempting to share. In this case, it was my " Baby Girl," We are Born Again Christians who know and love the Lord Jesus Christ. I'm also very aware that each of us mourns differently. It's okay to cry or whatever way gets you through the grieving process. I strongly suggest that it should be in a way that will not cause God any embarrassment. Would you believe that I still Think " What Would Jesus Do, " While going through my decision-making process? I once attended the School of Hard Knocks; since then, I've discovered that my life has become more comfortable since I practice adding Christ into the equation.
Would you believe that we, well me, I still think of her multiple times during the day? Walking through my home, I stop at each of the family photographs of our three marvelous children that are placed or hanging in strategic locations. It still hurts, very much, as she left a vast chasm in our family. I believe that in every family, there is one person who has the gift of administration. Our middle child wore that handle, as she was very creative.
Our children had what I guess you might call scheduled conference calls almost daily with each other.
As a parent, I feel that it's our responsibility to go to be with the Lord before our offspring. Any of you who have ever had to bury your child, my heart sincerely goes out to you. You hardly ever think that it can happen to you, having to bury your child. Now our son served proudly in the military, and I always had it in the back of my mind that something tragic could happen in a combat situation. Our son was a highly trained operative as many of our heroes in uniform, and this gave me considerable daily comfort. By the grace of our Lord and God, He brought him home safely.
My bride and I trained up our children in the Word of God, as we were intentional about making sure that our children were bold soldiers, and not scared to stand up as a Christian. We attempted to always lead by example, especially when making decisions.
At my age, rapidly approaching seventy-two, I can afford to daydream; in fact, I find myself remembering the days of yesteryear. I can still see my " Baby Girl playing with her older sister as well as her younger brother, who is two years younger. Our children were always very close. We all supported each other, particularly during special events in each of our lives.
Parents, never forget to pray for your children no matter their age, preferably in the morning before they have to go out and face the day, even if they don't live with you. I confess that I daydream, it's mainly about my family, and while in my dream state, joy rushes into my heart as well as in my spirit. We can't daydream all day long, but knowing that those of us who know the Father as our Savior and Lord.
Until Next Time.
