Topic: Jump In With Both Feet (11/28/19)
Matthew 8:5-10 is one of my favorite scriptures. . "And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto Him a Centurion beseeching Him and saying, Lord, my servant lies at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus said unto Him, I will come and heal him. The Centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof: but speak the Word only and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it. When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great a faith, no, not in Israel".
In my own finite imagination, I would venture to say that the use of a definite article,"the" before faith should be used to depict something unique or specific. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by "the" faith (there it is again) of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. (Galatians 2:20). There is no trepidation, instead there is enthusiasm, a sense of urgency, swiftness of mind, no hesitation. And He called Him Lord! Yes, a Gentile proclaimed Him Lord of all. I cannot help but wonder if he realized that he was begging Jesus to liberate the Gentiles. My favorite expository bible indicates that this portrays the acceptance of Christ by the Gentiles and rejection by Israel. In the big scheme of things, I think most would’ve jumped at the opportunity to welcome the man Jesus, whom they heard could heal the sick, into their homes to heal a loved one, even if it was solely out of desperation. Even as a last resort for the unbeliever.
Despite being a Gentile, he had to seek and pursue Jesus. Luke records he sent messengers first. Despite being a man of great authority, he recognized One greater than him. Oh what humility! What great faith! It is what it is and He is who He says He is type of faith. Just as my servants obey me, I know that this illness that plagues and torments my servant will obey you because you are under the authority of God Almighty. You are God! I believe it so much that I’m asking you to speak the word only. There is no plan B!

Prayer or devotion? I wasn't sure but you laid out the scripture and your own heart.

One small thing. If you put blank lines between the paragraphs, it would make it easier to read. I think "jump in with both feet" was a difficult topic, so good for you for coming up with something.
