I was asked to give my views on the tag name In-Law(s), and I was thinking in my head that this is going to be a breeze. Afterall
I have been a son-in-law and a brother-in-law for nearly fifty years now, and I sincerely love my wife. I suppose this qualifies me as an expert, and maybe I should be called a professor in this subject. I have just recognized that I am a
genuinely informed man; a wealth of knowledge, a cache of good and bad memories.
You see, none of us can ultimately know what our in-laws will be like, and we can only imagine and dream, how things will work out in the distant future. I believe that we must be intentional about our every move, especially those of us who know the Lord as our Personal Savior. I'm acutely aware that we are the hands and feet of Jesus. I have to say that most folks that I come in contact with are emotional creatures. Now I'm not saying that I don't express emotion when needed I do, I mix in logic in the equation — now getting back to those of us who have already become family through marriage.
Sometimes we have the opportunity to know our in-laws before the marriage of our loved ones. And other times we have much catching up to do, meaning no knowledge of them at all. I must say that I have called upon the Lord, and I have been genuinely intentional about this process. I even have come to love my daughter-in-law. Now if I must say, she has a younger brother who seems like it's his life's mission to get under my skin and to aggravate me to no end. Each of our encounters has been extremely challenging for me to no end, but I must say that I have grown in my faith. An In-Law is a family member by marriage, and we have been commanded by Jesus Christ to love. Some folks may seem harder to like, but not impossible to love.
